Qualifications: MRes. BSc (Hons). CQM (IBMS). CILM. FIBMS
Amrit gained his MRes from the University of Newcastle, Faculty of Science and BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from Northumbria University. He has worked in laboratories in Darlington and Durham then moved to Microbiology at the Freeman Hospital in 2008 progressing to Section Lead for Urines, Quality Manager and then Section Lead for Fluids/CSFs.
In January 2019 Amrit took up post as Quality Manager for Newcastle Genetics Laboratory (within ILM) and Newcastle NHS Highly Specialised Service for Rare Mitochondrial Disorders in the Neuroscience Directorate.
In June 2019 Amrit took over in leading Quality for the Yorkshire and North East Genomics Laboratory Hub (Y&NE GLH) and is currently involved with the Quality and H&S aspects nationally.
Amrit’s current interests include:
- SNP array service
- Whole Genome Sequencing
- Managerial aspects of Genomic reconfiguration
