Lucy started her career as a sandwich placement student at the Freeman Hospital working in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Labs in 2000, after graduating she was successful in her application to become a Trainee Biomedical Scientist back at the Freeman in 2002. She qualified as a specialist practitioner in biomedical sciences and became HCPC state registered in June 2003. Lucy has worked since then for the department, studying to gain her post graduate diploma in biomedical sciences and a NHS Leadership Academy award in healthcare leadership foundations, and is currently working towards gaining the IBMS higher specialist diploma in Transfusion Science. She has participated in the out of hours shift rota and worked as a specialist biomedical scientist for almost 18 years before joining the transfusion practitioner team in August 2021.
