Advanced Biomedical Scientist – Section Lead

Following graduation from Sunderland university in 2000, Marie initially trained and qualified as a Biomedical Scientist in Immunology at North Tees Hospital, gaining HCPC registration.

She joined the Immunology Laboratory at RVI, Newcastle in 2001 rotating through the then, Cellular Immunology, Immunochemistry and Autoantibodies sections before moving full time into ‘Cells’ in 2010.

She completed her MSc via Ulster University with specialist study in Haematology and Transfusion Science in 2014.

Marie was recently appointed to Flow Lab Team Leader (Advanced BMS) supporting the supra-regional severe combined immune-deficiency (SCID) unit and (since 2014) Northern England Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic service (NEHODS).

She is passionate about all areas of the work covered and is keen to develop and improve the service where possible.
