Sarah Leigh began her career within Cellular Pathology at Newcastle, gaining scientific experience for 10 years, leaving as a Senior Biomedical Scientist (BMS) to work in Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. She has primarily worked with an interest in paediatric brain tumour diagnostics and research, collaborating with many groups and keenly involved from the BMS perspective in implementing real time molecular diagnostics as prognostic indicators to inform treatment for patients on clinical trial.

She has since followed the management pathway and worked for Oxford NHS Foundation Trust and most recently spent two years as Laboratory Manager at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Swindon, principally working towards UKAS ISO15189:2012 Accreditation and streamlining service in an acute hospital setting.

Sarah Leigh returns to the Trust as Histology Operations Manager and is keen to continue working in a busy and progressive department, striving for optimal diagnostics with an excellent staff base. She hopes her 15 years diverse experience will continue to build and benefit the team and service users.
